About Stamps Plus
Stamps Plus is owned and operated by Jim Forte. Like
most collectors of my generation, I was introduced to
stamp collecting at about ten years of age. A friend had
a collection and showed to me.
I was especially intrigued by British Colonial engraved
pictorials of the 1950's and 1960.
I collected haphazardly for several years until am early
teenage trip with the family to Man and His World in
Montreal, a continuation of Expo 67. Stamps were part of
many of the country pavilions and this re-kindled my
interest.
I had a small business selling old comic books, so I decided to add stamps in 1973 or 1974. I have been in business continually.
I set up at my first stamps show in 1978. There I discovered covers and postal history. In less than two years I was a cover only dealer.
My postal history site, http://www.postalhistory.com has been online since 1995. I have sold well over 400,000 individual covers.
By the early 2000's, the business outgrew my home so I rented an office to handle the postal history business. With the public location, I began to be offered stamps, not just covers. For a while I wholesaled the stamps, but this turned out to be a lot of work for little return.
In 2009 I started Stamps-Plus offered a wide range of stamps, first day covers, unused postal stationery and unusual non Scott listed stamps, revenues and labels.
We have nearly 100,000 items on this site, all illustrated, with the hope of having something for everyone.
Please enjoy.
